WHO WE ARE
Our History
Mat Blair has been teaching and coaching golf for many years, but most of that time has been bouncing around from different schools, clubs and studios. The idea to own a local golf studio has been percolating in his head for probably 20 years, but it wasn’t until 2016 that he decided to go for it. “I was driving back to La Porte from Valparaiso University, I saw this building 304 J Street, La Porte, Indiana 46350 was for rent, and I thought, I’m doing it.” That idea turned into Elite Golf Performance, founded in 2017. In December of 2019, Blair was able to buy out Elite Golf and Mat Blair’s Golf Studio was born.

“I was driving back to La Porte from Valparaiso University, I saw this building was for rent, and I thought, I’m doing it.”

Passion For The Sport
The team at Mat Blair’s Golf Studio is united around one thing — a love for the game of golf. Golfers of all ages and skill levels are welcome in this downtown La Porte studio, from elementary school kids to retirees. Blair in particular loves working with youth golfers, having sent 300+ kids to golf scholarships through his career and working with more than 15 state champions.
“My favorite part of the job is anybody who’s in front of me. I really love working with people who love to get better, doesn’t matter what their ability is.”

Premiere Golf Studio in Northwest Indiana
Mat Blair grew up in neighboring Michigan City and spent his youth playing golf at Beechwood in La Porte. This fondness for golf and golfers drives everything he and his team do at the studio, including their use of Trackman technology, the world leader in swing and ball flight measurements. From league play to one-on-one instruction, custom club-fitting to fitness training, Mat Blair’s Golf Studio provides the best to help golfers get better.

“La Porte golf has a real special place in my heart. I love this town.”
